We started our journey on May 12th 1990, with a intention to provide education to all. Our main aim was to educate poor and backward class child so that they can leave a better life in the society. This is our aim till now.
I, Siba Prasad Tripathy, the founder of this small institution, started this institution with the aim to provide education to all. At that time there was no private coaching in the town. So I have decided to start coaching 10th class student Math and Science. I had started the institution first on Haripur road, Cuttack in a rented house of Mr. Bijay Kumar Maharana at only Rs. 100 per month as house rent.
At the time of naming the institute I had thinked a lot. I wanted to give a name related to science and mathematics. So at last I derived the word "Sigma" from mathematics and hence the institution name was "Sigma Coaching Center".
At that time there was only a few coaching centers in Cuttack, so many people asked me about the center and they didn't have faith upon us. I have faced a lot of troubles during my initial days. After that my students perform well in their exams and people started believing us slowly.
In 1991 we have added 8th and 9th class, but as per the request from guardian we started giving coaching on all the subjects. In 1992 Mr. Indramani Swain(MIL O), Mr. Krushshna Chandra Nayak(Sanskrit), Mr. Harihara Mohanty(English) , Late Mr. Praffula Ku. Nayak(Geography) joined me. We continiued the center at Haripur till 1994.
Due to some problems with parking and house we shifted the center to Pithapur, Cuttack. We rent the house of Mrs. Dr. Prativa Mishra in 1995. After that on 1996 we have added +2 Arts. In the same year Mr. Prdyumna Samal and Late Mr. Laddu kishore Mishra joined us.
In 1997 +2 Science stream was added and Pradyuna Sir had a great role behind it. We have changed our center name to "Sigma Tutorial ". Again due to some unavoidable circumstances we shifted the center to JhanjiriMangal, Balisahi on 2003. We rented the house of Late Mr. Gagan Bihari Mohanty and stiil today we are there. Mr. Bikram Kishor Mohanty had a great role.
Since that day from a small plant we became a giant tree having many branches of education. We currently stand as a prestigious institution of the city. Currently we are providing education in all the subjects starting from Class 4 to +2 Science.
